Asia’s first low budget carrier AirAsia India is betting on North East destinations for air travel and is planning to install its future routes in the region, reported FirstBiz.com.
The portal quoted AirAsia founder and CEO Tony Fernandes saying “For AirAsia, it is not about going to destinations where every other airline goes and in that sense North East is an appealing destination and also the first priority will be to reduce airfares in the country”.
In June, the airline launched flights from Bangalore to Chennai and Goa at advance fares as low as Rs 490 and Rs 990, offering an airfare much below levels which would cover costs of the airline.
What’s there more in the connection of North East with AirAsia? Ningku Lachungpa, the finalist of AXN’s The Apprentice Asia 2013, from the state of Sikkim, was offered the position of Head of Ancillary Revenue (India operations) by the Malaysian-British born tycoon and AirAsia founder himself.
