Arunachal Weightlifter Jimjang Deru wins gold in Commonwealth Youth Games 2015

The 17-year-old Arunachali teen Jimjang Deru bag the gold medal in 56 kg men category on the opening day of competitions at the 5th Commonwealth Youth Games 2015 in Pacific island of Samoa.

Team India are being represented by 25 athletes in eight sports out of the nine being competed in the CYG from 5-11 September 2015, where over 1000 young Commonwealth athletes aged 14-18 is representing their country.

He is the second weightlifter from his state, after Yukar Sibi to have won a medal for India at Youth Commonwealth Games. In 2008 edition, Yukar Sibi won silver medal in 62 kg men category in his debut.

Prior to his debut at CYG,  Jimjang Deru won 3 Gold medal at 17th Asian Youth championship held at Doha Qatar from 29th December 2014 to 8th January 2015.
