Assamese beauty queen Anannya Sarmah is all set to win the hearts of one billion people with her honest smile, sharp mind and generous heart at the glittering grand ceremony of Ponds Femina Miss India.
Femina, India’s first and largest read women’s english magazine organizes the event every year and crowns the winners to contest international beauty pageants such as Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss Asia Pacific International and Miss International.
The 24-year-old is the only finalist from the northeast states, who will be walking the ramp at the 50th edition of Ponds Femina Miss India 2013, with twenty-two fellow contestants including the 23-year-old Sagarika Chhetri, a native of Darjeeling on March 24 in Mumbai. The show will telecast live on Colors channel.
Anannya hails from Dibrugarh, a small city in the eastern part of Assam. She auditioned for the Miss India contest from Shillong. A former student of the reputed Assam Valley School (AVS), Anannaya went on to do her graduation from St Xavier’s College in Kolkata. She then went to the UK to complete her masters in marketing management from the University of Westminster, says a report by The Times of India.
Anannya is passionate about conservation of wildlife. She loves writing, photography, hiking, travelling and painting. It was the support from her parents, her older sister and her twin brother that gave her the confidence to participate in the beauty pageant.
