Bollywood veteran Amitabh’s KBC stands for North East and racial discrimination

Joining the effort and fight against the issues of racial discrimination faced by the people of Northeast region in the country. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati 8, which starts in August, have released its latest promotional video campaign for the Indian version of the hugely popular television game show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”, featuring a host of actors from the NE region.

The video titled “KBC 2014 launch film – Kohima“, sends a strong message against racism and to establish a warm geographical awareness about the neglected Northeast India with the rest of the country, was uploaded on YouTube on July 4. However, the video has been set as private since morning.


In 2012, the veteran actor while congratulating in a tweet on MC Mary Kom’s Bronze medal win in the London Olympics, got his geography wrong about the five-time world boxing champion’s native state and wrote “Mary Kom !! wins her boxing bout, insured a Bronze ! What a story ! A Mother of two from Assam, creates moment of pride for India”.
