Hornbill Cycle Rally 2012 for Ride to Recharge

To add environmental awareness in the ongoing gala Hornbill Festival celebrations, US Consul General (Kolkata) Dean R. Thompson flagged off the Hornbill Cycle Rally 2012 on December 2, at 8.30 am from Kisama village in Nagaland. This year’s cycle rally theme  “Ride to Recharge 2012” and “See Green See Life,” saw a pack of 42 cyclists including a lone female cyclist Carol Humtsoe paddle racing to reached Dimapur, covering a distance of approximate 74 kms.

14-years-old student Lokuh Sangtam of class IX from Sainik school, Punglwa was the youngest cyclist to participate in the “enjoying nature on two wheels,” organised by the Alaphra Group and endorsed and sponsored by the department of tourism supported by department of forests, ecology, environment and wildlife, with State of India as lead sponsor.
