Japanese delegation visits Sikkim to set up Drones and Robotics production unit

A Japanese entourage met Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on Wednesday at Mintokgang his official residence in Gangtok, to explore the possiblity of investment opportunities in the Himalayan state for setting up of plants to manufacture high-end electronic products including drones and robotics.

The project which deals with developing the unmanned aerial vehicles will be India’s first Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for building drones, if implemented. The only organic Indian state will be the first one in the country to have a drone manufacturing plant.
