JetKonnect which began its daily flight services to and return Kolkata-Dimapur a year back, is all set to suspend its operations by the month of May 2013, says a report by Nagaland Post.
The surprise development comes at a time when air travellers in Nagaland, were gradually opting out of taking flights from Guwahati. According to an informed source, senior officials of JetKonnect, a subsidiary of Jet Airways, claimed that the airline was running at a loss in the Dimapur sector.
While other officials of the airline hinted that the plea of running at a loss was just an “excuse” to get out of the sector and plans to deploy the planes to other routes in the international sector after withdrawing from Dimapur.
The low cost carrier JetKonnect and Air India is the only two airlines operating its services in the state.
