Popular culture has often crossed boundaries. Likewise the Korean invasion has found its golden niche in India, since the early 2000’s.
Today, It is Korean culture – and it’s spreading like wildfire throughout India especially in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland. Local people are opening their doors to Korean culture. The demand for Korean Soaps, K-Pop Music, Cinema, Fashion, Food, Online Games and Language is at a new peak.
The first ever Korea-India Music Festival in the NE region was staged during Hornbill festival 2008 by the Government of Nagaland in collaboration with Korea’s leading music channel Arirang TV. Since then, everything that is Korean wave is “hot and fast selling” and the locals have been experiencing a shift in cultural assimilation – This time away from the generally westernized ethos and likeness.
The contest is very simple and anyone is most welcome to participate in the gala event. All they have to do is reproduce any K-pop cover dance/song and upload the video link on www.kpopfestival.org
12 teams will be shortlisted for nationwide semi-finalists at FICCI Auditorium, New Delhi on 17th August, where one singing team and one dance group will win a chance to represent India at the grand International K-Pop Festival in South Korea on 28th September. Please Read More Guidelines here.
