Maniac is an all-female rock band that originally formed in Imphal, Manipur in May 2013 by Singer-Guitarist Sunanda aka Roxy, Vocalist Kelly, Bassist Nancy, Lead Guitarist Deepika and Drummer Goldie, scoring original singles “Fly High”, “Just a dream” and “Rock n Roll”.

However, Deepika Ningthoujam and Kelly left the band just after a year sting. They were soon replaced by Anjali (Lead Guitar) and Vinitha (Keyboard). The band is heavily influenced by iconic rock bands including Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Nightwish and Nirvana.

This post-hardcore group made a big splash during the final day of Ougri festival at National Institute of Technology Complex at Takyelpat near Imphal on March 28. In an exclusive interview with Manipur Update, the band members have disclosed about their driving plans of recording and releasing an EP album sometime soon. Their symphonic keys of existence as an all-female rock band in a patriarchal society is a vaulting chug-chugs right message of women empowerment with an attempt to crunch the social stereotyping choke in local music circuit.
