The state of Meghalaya has more than 780 caves. Some have been discovered, some lie hidden for centuries. The hilly Meghalaya is dotted with numerous natural caves which are one of the major tourist attractions to India’s northeastern state. Some of the famous caves of Meghalaya are Mawsynra, Krem Mawmluh, Krem Um-Lawan, Krem Kotsati, Krem Umshangktat, Krem Lashinng, Krem Sweep, Krem Risang, Siju Do Bhakol, Krem Iawe, Krem Synrang Ngap, Krem Soh Shympi etc.
Meghalaya’s Siju-Dobkhakol cave is the third largest cave in the Indian sub-continent and Krem Dam cave is the largest sandstone cave of India.
