Mizo cover song “Don’t Cry Joni” hits 2 million YouTube views

Cover song videos are hugely popular on YouTube, making and uploading a good cover song video on the video-sharing website is one of the most proven ways to get an artist with new listeners and viewers.

Mizo artists Lalchhanchhuaha and Zualbawihi cover song of the 1970’s country hit “Don’t Cry Joni” by Conway Twitty has garnered more than 2.7 million views in just 8 months and becoming the first cover song from the Northeast India region to do so.

The duo released their Mizo cover song video on Feb 22, 2017 and it quickly began gaining speed in viewership. Their rendition delivers an incredible touch of western country genre blended with unique Northeastern accent vocals.

Some artists who all started their career by singing cover songs on YouTube included the teen sensational icon Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes and Charlie Puth.

On November 20, Youtube will launch its newest show “Best.Cover. Ever.” to discover emerging talent from around the world and it will be hosted by Ludacris. The winners will get to work with Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Flo-Rida, Jason Derulo, Keith Urban, Nicky Jam and more.
