Nine-Year-Old Son Of A Sweeper From Assam Selected To Train in Germany For 6 Years

9-year-old Chandan Boro, a son of a sweeper and tea shop helper Nripen Boro from Udalguri district in Assam has been selected for training to the residential football camp of German Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim.

The class IV student of North Harisinga LP School has earned a rare opportunity of imparting training in football at Germany for six years. He is the only boy to be selected from his state for the football course in Bittburg, Germany.

He was picked at the selection camp organised by Tata Trust in association with U Sports Mumbai and TSF Hoffenheim held at Kokrajhar in June. The programme aimed at unearthing of U-15 talents in the football world and offer them a rare opportunity particularly the younger ones across the country.

On his maiden journey to Germany, he will be joined by Badonlang Rapsang, another young footballer from Meghalaya selected for the same training course.

The stories of Chandan and Badonlang will inspire a new wave of football fever in the Northeast region and perhaps their achievements will help India improve its global rankings in Football.
