SC Jamir appointed Odisha Governor

82-year-old Congress veteran and four time Chief Minister of Nagaland SC Jamir has been appointed – the new Governor of Odisha (formerly known as Orissa).

He has taken over as the 44th state Governor from current incumbent Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, whose term expired on August 21, 2007 and was continuing even after his term had expired last year.

Senayangba Chubatoshi Jamir, a multifaceted personality was first nominated as a member to the Lok Sabha in 1961, then appointed as the Parliamentary secretary of the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

He has also served as Governor of Maharastra, Goa and Gujarat.
