Sikkimese midfielder Sanju Pradhan celebrates his team Atletico de Kolkata’s 2014 ISL victory

Some hard-die fans of NorthEast United FC might have been a little disappointed over the team performance in not making it to the final stage of top four teams in the concluded first season of Indian Super League.

Nevertheless, there’s still a good riddance worth celebrating – the victory of Atletico de Kolkata winning the trophy, scoring against Kerala Blasters in the grand final match.

Sikkimese footballer Sanju Pradhan was one of the midfielders in the squad of Atletico de Kolkata FC and is the only Northeast player in the club.

The 25-year-old midfielder from West Sikkim, after a two years stint with Air India FC joined East Bengal FC and played for the club in the I-Legaue in 2008, where he scored his first goal for the Red and Gold against his old club – Air India, on February 2009. He named captain of East Bengal in 2011. Pradhan made his international debut against Syria in the Nehru Cup 2012.
