Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan, Mugdha Godse, Jiah Khan and Evelyn Sharma lit up the ramps with vibrant hues at the first North East Fashion Festival, held from March 1 at Hotel Brahmaputra in Guwahati. A four-day fashion extravaganza was organized to promote the sericulture, handlooms and designs of the northeast and give a chance to the local talent to network and liaise with beneficial partners and market.
Models wore the creations of designers such as Rajesh Jhunjhunwala, Niket, Ankita Choudhury, Kallol Dutta, Yana Ngoba, James Ferreira, Shraddha and Mayank, Raghuvendra Rathore, Prasant Ghosh, Tonu Riba and Nandini Baruvah, among others.
Soha Ali Khan was the showstopper for fashion designer Sunita Shankar, who made innovative use of Assam silk, particularly eri, fusing her signature look with a universal theme.
The event that saw open studios and workshops, lectures, forums and floor talks, exhibition of fashion and lifestyle products, fashion shows, rock concerts and other cultural items, was organised by Basics Concepts and Marketing Limited — a Delhi-based event management company — and by the National Textile Corporation in association with the Union Home Ministry, Ministry of DoNER, Ministry of Sericulture and Assam Police Wives Welfare Association.
