Tucked away in the clouded hills of Chawlhmun area in West Aizawl stands the Solomon’s Temple, an architecturally magnificent white structure that has been attracting curious tourists from around the world. It is considered the largest church in Mizoram state and can accommodate 3,000 people in the prayer hall alone.
The foundation of the temple was laid on December 23, 1996. And it took almost past 2 decades for the construction of the temple, which is built at an estimated cost of US$ 3 million raised through donations. An annual convention called Jerusalem Khawmpui is held every year at the Temple in the last week of December.
It is run by Kohhran Thianghlim (The Holy Church), a non-denominational Christian section in Mizoram, founded by Dr Lalbiakmawia Sailo in 1984.
