Team Shillong is one of the 153 teams that competed at the 15th Maruti Suzuki Raid-de-Himalaya, one of the world’s toughest off-road motor rallies, which was flagged off from Kandaghat near Shimla on October 6 and culminated in Leh on October 12.
The extreme motor rally coincides with the first snow of the season and for motorsport lovers, the routes enthralled them an opportunity to savour the breath-taking cross-country rally traversing through the toughest terrain in the northern extremities of India.
The Raiders passed through two of the highest mountain passes in the world this year — the Khardung La (18,379 ft) and the Wari La (17,300 ft), in Ladakh.
The Wari La climb is about 14 km long journey, while the Khardung La climb is 32-km long. The descent into the Nubra Valley is equally steep and rapid, driving at these impossible altitudes, which demanded the best from both man and machine.
