Northeast India’s biggest YouTube star — Borkung Hrangkhawl will be premiering tomorrow on MTV Roots at 9:00 PM.
His manager and producer Kabir Jamatia has confirmed the news, “We have been recently contacted by the world’s largest music channel for airing his first solo music video single — The Roots (Chini Haa)”.
After launching the music video on YouTube in December 2012, it has generated over 1,00,000 hits in less than 3 weeks. The song talked about the present socio-political situation of Tripura. Chini Haa means “Our Land” in Kokborok dialect, the dialect of the Tiprasas.
The 25-year-old upcoming rapper Borkung Hrangkhawl’s latest music video “The Journey” is currently trending in more than 9,52,000 YouTube views, uploaded to the video sharing site on January 31, making it one of the fastest-spreading indie music video in Indian entertainment history.
His viral hit “The Journey” (feat. Hag’ai Rongmei from The Mangalz) sang in English, Hrangkhawl and Hindi will be also up on the channel once the censor certification is cleared, added Kabir.
